Notes on the network as it is built: what a phase actually changed, why a parameter is set where it is, what a published number means. Every claim here traces to a chapter, and the chapter is what survives if the two disagree.

  1. The queue is the grid

    Texas has paused data-centre grid connections while it audits a queue five times its record peak demand. The queue is the cost of concentrating compute in one place, and it is the cost the Light tier was specified to avoid.

  2. The next language checkpoint is in training

    A larger checkpoint for the language surface is training now, and when it promotes it will be the largest this network has served. This post is the notice that a notice is coming; the checkpoint registry is what decides when.

  3. A body with a landlord

    Tenet IV says centralized intelligence is a brain with a landlord. This month two companies showed what that sentence means once the brain has hands, and one of them accidentally proved Tenet XIII along the way.

  4. 4,519,851 OGI burned

    The third entry in the series. 4,519,851 OGI destroyed, about $3,567 at the price at the time of writing, bringing the total removed since genesis to 3.166%, again from the project's own holdings.

  5. 2,158,680 OGI burned

    The second entry in the series. Supply falls to 972,859,565, with 2.714% of the genesis supply now destroyed in total, again from the project's own holdings.

  6. You cannot crawl the physical world

    The singularity is argued almost entirely in software. The surveys say open-ended self-improvement is bounded by grounding, and grounding runs through bodies, which is the one input no amount of capital can centralise.

  7. 24,979,602 OGI burned

    The first of a recurring series. 2.498% of the genesis supply destroyed, worth about $18,220 at the price at the time of writing, from the project's own holdings.

  8. The hard half was never the weights

    A 27B model that runs on one consumer GPU now trades blows with last year's frontier. That settles the question the Light tier was betting on, and leaves the harder one exactly where it was.

  9. The treasury is the mechanism, not the model

    Open weights exist elsewhere. What does not exist elsewhere is a compute network that pays for itself, and that is the only part of this design without a precedent to borrow from.

  10. Three percent, and why it is not ninety-nine

    A sampled audit does not catch every dishonest answer, and it is not supposed to. It makes serving dishonestly stop paying, which is a different and much cheaper thing to buy.

  11. What Phase 1 does not include

    Six of the eight surfaces in the catalogue are dark. They are listed anyway, with the phase that activates them, because omitting them would suggest the catalogue is the whole of what has been specified.
